Depends on what you want to do. If you want AWD and good cargo capacity, the Ford Escape Hybrid is the best deal being the cheapest "true hybrid" SUV. The Saturn Vue Green Line is not a true hybrid vehicle. Otherwise, the Toyota Prius has the best balance of technology, performance, practicality, and cost.

It's hard to find value in hybrids. The toy is best in around town driving. the honda is best for highway driving. The cost is still high for what savings that you would get for driving it. The SUV hybrids are a joke.

The Toyota Prius' 50 mpg fuel-economy rating is not only best in its class, it's the best available in the U.S. for the 2010 model year. The Prius is also the best-selling hybrid car in the world, having sold 1.6 million… cars since the original model was introduced in 1997. The Toyota Prius has more trunk space than most hybrid cars -- including the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid (Base MSRP: $27,950) -- and reviewers say the unique hatchback makes a stronger environmental statement than other hybrids that are hard to differentiate from their conventional gas-powered counterparts. The more powerful 2010 model improves two of the Prius' commonly-cited flaws -- poor acceleration and numb steering -- while still boosting fuel economy by an estimated 2 to 3 mpg over the 2009 version. The Prius' crash ratings are uniformly good and reliability has been excellent; a 2010 recall to fix a brake-software problem hasn't stopped experts from recommending it wholeheartedly.
